Quran commands beating disobedient wives. But what if a Muslim man lives where wife-beating prohibited by law?

Allah has given wives to men for many good reasons. One of them is to show men the relationship they have with God from the bottom up. and the relationship they have with their wives from the top down are much the same. What you do to your wife, you are inviting God to do to you. Live and learn. Love gives, is generous, does not quickly anger but is gentle, benevolent and forgiving. You are her "leader" just as Allah is yours. Learn justice, do not be a tyrant. Does your wife live in fear of you? Do you live in fear of God? Is that good? You want God to bless you while you are beating your wife, or should He wait til you are done?
