I can tell you a few things about Ferdinand Magellan. He was an explorer that traveled around the world, and discovered the Philippines for the Spanish. He also met his demise in the Philippines after a Filipino soldier shot him in the leg with a poisoned blow dart that killed him. The Filipino people have been affected for more than 400 years by Spanish rule because of Ferdinand Magellans discovery of these islands in the Pacific. The Philippines and its people, Filipinos, are named after the Spanish king, King Philip.
